Working with Triggers
- Each pad can store one trigger point
- Markers are set automatically to next available pad
- Time stamps show exact trigger positions
- Click any marked pad to start from that position
- Drag red lines to fine-tune trigger positions
Trigger Point Storage
- Trigger points are automatically saved in your browser
- Points persist across browser sessions and internet connections
- Each sample's trigger points are saved separately
- Storage is specific to the browser you're using
Note: Trigger points will be lost when:
- Using a different browser
- Clearing browser data/cache
- Using private/incognito mode
- Switching to a different device
Custom Sample Library
Build your own sample collection for quick access:
- Click Load Sample to import a local audio file
- Enter a custom title in the modal that appears
- Click Save to add to your library, or Cancel to just play it
- Access saved samples from the Custom tab in Browse Samples
- Click the × button to delete samples from your library
- Custom samples and their trigger points are saved in your browser
Effects and Controls
Each effect pad in the Dub Effects panel can add unique audio effects to your sample playback. Effects use
toggle mode:
- Click once to turn an effect ON (pad lights up)
- Click again to turn the effect OFF
- Multiple effects can be active simultaneously
- Use keyboard shortcuts Q W E R A S D F to toggle effects
Pitch / Speed Control
The PITCH tab offers two independent controls:
Varispeed (Orange)
- Drag left for slower (0.5×) or right for faster (2.0×)
- Changes both pitch AND tempo together (like vinyl/tape)
- Centered at 1.0× (normal speed)
- Great for classic dub slowdown effects
Pitch Shift (Purple)
- Adjust pitch from -12 to +12 semitones (one octave each way)
- Pitch changes in real-time while audio plays
- Tempo stays the same - only pitch changes
- Uses SoundTouch WSOLA algorithm for high-quality shifting
- Perfect for creative pitch effects without speed changes
Tip: Combine both controls! Use Varispeed for classic dub slowdowns,
and Pitch Shift for modern pitch effects while keeping the groove.
Master Volume
Use the MASTER tab to control the output volume:
- Volume Fader: Drag to adjust output level from 0% to 100%
- Green glow indicates current volume level
- Adjust volume in real-time while audio is playing
- Click Reset to return to full volume instantly
- Volume changes are smooth with no clicks or pops
Filter Sweeps
The FILTER tab provides real-time filter control and modulation effects:
Lowpass / Highpass Filters
- Lowpass: Drag to sweep from 100Hz to 20kHz - removes high frequencies
- Highpass: Drag to sweep from 20Hz to 8kHz - removes low frequencies
- RES (Resonance): Adds emphasis at the cutoff frequency for that classic "squelch"
- Logarithmic frequency scaling for natural, musical control
Modulation Effects
- Z Flanger: Classic jet-plane swoosh effect
- X Phaser: Swirling multi-stage phase modulation
- C Chorus: Thickening shimmer effect
- V Tremolo: Classic amplitude modulation (volume wobble)
Click Reset All to return all filters and effects to their default state.
Available Effects
- Echo 1, Echo 2, Echo 3: Three variations of delay effects, each with increasing delay time
and depth, creating layered echo effects.
- Space: A reverb effect that adds a spacious, ambient sound to the audio.
- Tubby: A special delay effect with frequency sweeps and resonance, creating a classic dub
sound.
- Drop: Emulates tape dropout, introducing a slightly distorted, vintage sound.
- Spring: A resonant reverb effect with a bouncy, spring-like quality.
- Ghost: Adds a subtle pitch modulation to create a haunting echo effect.
Experiment with different effects and combinations to add depth and style to your playback experience!
Best Practices
- Set trigger points during first playback for consistent timing
- Use the waveform display to identify key sample sections
- Clear all triggers if you want to start fresh
- Check trigger point timing before live performance
